FAR Part 15: Contracting by Negotiation Practice Test

Session length

1 / 20

If an offeror's proposal is eliminated or removed from the competitive range, what is true about further revisions?

No further revisions to that offeror's proposal shall be accepted or considered.

In competitive negotiations, only offerors whose proposals remain in the competitive range are eligible for further consideration and for making revisions during discussions or for final proposals. Once an offeror’s proposal is eliminated from the competitive range, that proposal is no longer part of the competition, so no further revisions to it are accepted or considered. This keeps the process focused on the viable proposals and prevents back-and-forth with those not in contention. Other options would conflict with this principle: allowing revisions until award would blur the line between in-range and out-of-range candidates; limiting revisions to price would ignore the broader negotiation and improvement opportunities typically allowed within the competitive range; delaying award isn’t about the revision status of the eliminated proposal.

Revisions may be accepted until award.

The offeror may submit revisions only for the price.

The award will be delayed.
